    The Story

Created by legendary London bartender Dick Bradsell at Fred's Club in Soho in 1983. The story goes that a young model asked for a drink that would "wake me up and then f*** me up." Bradsell combined vodka with fresh espresso and coffee liqueur, and the Espresso Martini was born.

    Bartender Notes

"The espresso must be fresh — stale espresso won't create the crema. Shake extremely hard; the foam is the signature. Three coffee beans represent health, wealth, and happiness."

    Preparation

    1. 1Pull a fresh shot of espresso and let it cool for 30 seconds.
    2. 2Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
    3. 3Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds — a hard shake creates the signature crema.
    4. 4Double strain into a chilled coupe or Martini glass.
    5. 5Garnish with three coffee beans placed on the crema.
